Diane has been a bath-kitchen design specialist since 1982, and the principal of D. P. Design since April, 1984. She has earned professional certifications from the National Kitchen and Bath Association and the National Council for Interior Design Qualification. Diane is also a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist, and the author of the award-winning book, "THE Survival Guide: Home Remodeling". She has won numerous local, regional, and national design awards for projects, including an Excellence Award for Best Home in its Category from the Portland Chapter of the National Association of Home Builders (see pictures at http://www.dp-design.com/evergreen).
The inspiration and motivation for establishing D. P. Design was two-fold:
-
To work with individual homeowners, so they will achieve the best building and remodeling results possible for their lifestyle and their budget; and
-
To educate as many homeowners as possible, as a consumer advocate, so they will have information to avoid costly mistakes.
The journey as a homeowner advocate and consumer educator began in the fall of 1987, when Diane offered seminars in the San Francisco-Bay Area. This led to the publication of her first book, soon after she and her husband moved to Portland, Oregon. Two years later, Diane had an opportunity to speak with the Marketing Director for a local radio station at a remodeling trade show, which culminated in a Saturday morning talk show that was on the air for over three years, until the radio station was purchased by a national communications holding company.
With more than a quarter century of experience as a designer, and more than 30 years of experience as a D-I-Y'er, Diane invites you to join her every Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m.(PT) on Lifestyle WebRadio to talk about everything that will improve the enjoyment of your home. Jay Plesset has been interactive with technology since he was about 4, when he learned how to operate his father's A-V equipment (without damaging it!). He became interested in lighting technology in the third grade, which led to a lifelong interest in chemistry. One of Jay's first jobs was working with Infinity Speakers. He moved from Los Angeles to the San Francisco-Bay Area, where he was the manager of Sound Systems' San Francisco location. After Jay and Diane were married, they became the owners of Sound Systems, which led directly to their current careers. Jay works as a technical support engineer for Oracle. In his spare time, Jay builds computers and helps friends resolve technical challenges. When Diane and Jay were discussing the possibility of "Today's Home," Jay's technical knowledge and confidence affirmed that they have everything they need to broadcast from "Evergreen ," their new home in Oregon City.
With his knowledge and experience, Jay is eminently qualified to be the Resident Geek on Today's Home.
